Luke 2:1-20 New International Version (NIV)
The Birth of Jesus
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.
4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
Happy Birthday Jesus ~
A story told above and travels through generations to generations of the birth of Jesus. God created his son Jesus for a purpose on earth, in heaven and for each of us today. I hope you can take a few minutes to say happy birthday to Jesus and celebrate your own life. Each of us was created for a larger purpose too.
Time today is very important. Be around those you love and if you can't be, just remember the blessings of yesterdays. I always wake up thinking about my brother who died on Christmas Day at 37 years old from cancer. He told me to live as if today was my last and I do my best daily to do that. I was angry at 32 years old when my brother left earth. I can still see his face and the struggles he went through. But I also know his faith he had in God. He knew it was his time and he excepted that with grace. An older brother and my only sibly I had.
I remember Christmas Day a few years ago. At 10am, I would get a call my mother had fell and was being taken to the hospital. She would end up with a broken hips, many tears and promised to always use her walker again. Her normal of living independent was over and she would enter a care home. It was there less than a year later, she would enter Heaven. With words of Janet, you are a good daughter and I love you.
Wow Christmas Morning can also be with my kids were little. The excitement that filled the house and them running to see what Santa brought. Teaching them also about Jesus and his love. Years gone by brings memories. I created new ones with my grandchildren. Watching them open presents is probably one of the best gifts I ever get each year. I have decided to focus on the positive and count blessings of when I can see them, have time and just share a daily life with who ever wants me in theirs.
On this Christmas Day, know that you are loved, you read this for a purpose. Jesus is real and Santa is my friend too. My prayers continue for you, your family and friends. Purpose this a great Christmas and happy birthday Jesus. I am so happy to see another Christmas!
Merry Christmas to each of you, your family and friends.
