Jesus spoke in parables and I often think of how our world, plus country is divided. Divided by politics, religion, languages and opinions. I heard someone say once, "can we all just get along". Wouldn't it be a good place to live if everybody got along? Life is so short and we spend so much time fussing in life. It's a fact, we will not always see somethings the same way or agree. It is okay to agree to disagree on somethings of life. Even in my own home, my husband and I don't agree on everything. Read the following scriptures.
Mark 3:20-35 ~ New International Version
Jesus Accused by His Family and by Teachers of the Law
20 Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat. 21 When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”
22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.”
23 So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. 27 In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house. 28 Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”
30 He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”
31 Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. 32 A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, “Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.”
33 “Who are my mother and my brothers?” he asked.
34 Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 35 Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
DIVIDED ~ By jobs, positions, titles, family, and friendships.
There are times we don't feel good enough. Especially if we loose a job or title. You suddenly realize you are not longer the title, but the person you were created to be in the first place. I found myself saying, I used to be a youth pastor's wife and then associate pastor's wife. I found myself being divided from myself. That might sound crazy but it's true. If I didn't hold the title, was I still qualified? That answer is yes but it took me years to figure that out. I had to step back, but I step back too far. I had to encourage myself that God had called me and qualified me to serve him. I allowed what happen to me at church to divide me from God. That was a wrong move on my part. One day, I felt God drawing me back to him and I felt his holy spirit once again say lead others. I've been in my current church over almost 20 years now and I am in leadership.
Don't let things of life divide you from God, his plan or your now. Be careful talking about politics and religion. Sometimes people will surprise you how they believe and that shocks you. One Wednesday night, I was teaching women at church and mention politics. I quickly saw how some believed one way and some the other way. Not everyone who goes to church is Republican. We must be careful not to allow things of life to divide us, although, we must be divided from the devil and his plan to stop you. He is not your friend and doesn't want us to be united. United we stand in God and united we can change so much.
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
