I Love Lucy is a TV Show began in 1951 and still has reruns today. It began before I was born, but I remember as kid it was fun to watch. I still love watching this show. Usually Lucy, would get a great idea and bring Ethel into it. Sometimes that would be another find mess you have gotten us into Lucy, said Ethel. So much laughter in a 30 minute show. The point of this message today is, they were always there for each other. No matter what, they stuck together. Their friendship would be good times and also frustrating times. Of course, this is a TV show but a good point of friendships.
COVER FOR ME ~
Who is that person who has your back?
Who is the only God who can handle whatever you face?
Who is the one you look into the mirror and see that needs a reminder today?
PROVERBS 18:24 (NIV)
One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Jesus is a friend who sticks close. He paid the price for each of us. We get so busy with life, we might forget to spend time with him. Our lives just get busy and we might not say HI until we need something else. I remember a time in my life when I was just busy. I forgot to pray, praise and give thanks to God for a new day. It wasn't until something happen, that I fell upon my knees to cry out for help. I must be honest, it wasn't a real relationship with God, but a only when I need you thing. As I have grown older, I found the importance of a daily relationship and praise time is valuable.
God has brought some amazing people into my life. I find myself meeting new people all the time whether at church or helping in my granddaughters school. Our example to someone else is so valuable. People often view us one way, but there is a story behind every smile. The story of redemption with Jesus and a new way of thinking through God's mercy plus grace.
I realize that not everyone has a Lucy and Ethel friendship. Remember that they had moments of frustration with each other. As we age, I see how people change. I also see how I have changed. Over the years, I have grown into a more confident woman. I had to let something go of some people that were in my life. If someone brings you down, that's not a good thing. Purpose your life around people who spur you on and are there for you. Friendship is a two way thing, not just one person getting their way. A real friend will stick by you in all times.
Hebrews 10:24-25 New International Version (NIV)And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
POINT ~
We can't live in the past, but embrace our now of life. Purpose to find good friendships, healthy and enjoy this life you have been given. My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
