Psalm 23 New International Version (NIV)
A psalm of David.1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
In reading the 23rd Psalm, I see how David put his trust in the Lord. He knew that only God could refresh his soul and guide him along the with paths of life. There is so much more to this chapter, but the point I want to make is about resting. Rest is something about bodies need physically and also spiritually. Things happen to each of us and it changes us. I hope you will let those changes make you a better person and not bitter.
The Bible continues to say that there is a time for all things. A time to be born and a time to die. It's the in-between stages of life that we miss out on. We can not choose our parents or how they treat us. We grow up to be adults and wonder about life. The wonder is inside of you and God has a plan according to Jeremiah 29:11 A plan, A promise and A future!
As this new day begins, give thanks for where you are today. Your are future down a road than yesterday and if you look behind, David reminds us this: Surely God's goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life. He doesn't stop there, but continues to say: I will, I will, I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Think about it, forever is a big word and last. Nothing can change the love that God gives to you and it's your choice to show love back to God.
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends. Be encouraged today and share what you know about God. A loving God who gives new life, new hope and new beginnings. Today is that day. Let it be a new beginning in thoughts and casting down negative ones.
