Luke 1:26-38 New International Version (NIV)
The Birth of Jesus Foretold
26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”
34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. 37 For no word from God will ever fail.”
38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.
CHRISTMAS DAY 2019 ~
Jesus is still alive and doing miracles in our lives
Kids are waking up to whatever Santa brought them or didn't bring them. I remember being a kid and my mom told me that Santa needed to give my gift to someone else in need. I was so little and didn't quite understand that. Although, it seem to happen more than one year. As I got older, I realized that I wouldn't get whatever I asked for from Santa. So I decided not to ask Santa or my mom for things I really wanted. I remember the year I only wanted an Etch A Stretch toy. I didn't get it, but when I was 13 and had my tonsils out, I did get it. We grow up different and I knew kids who got everything on their list for Christmas. Expectations can sure hurt at times when your a kid and even as an adult.
Christmas morning this year, I am reminded of my brother going to Heaven on this day in 1988. I am reminded that my mom feel Christmas morning in 2011 and broke her hip. I have been in hospitals through both these situations and saw many people who were hurting. I saw doctors and nurses who continue to work to help others. I remember how Chad and Ashley brought Terry and I Christmas Dinner at the hospital Christmas night 2011. It was nice to see them and the food was good. Family pulls together through hard stuff and I can still count blessings of that day. Little did I know that my mom would enter a care home and enter Heaven in less than one year. She asked me to pray that she would not be in a care home at Christmas. I did and God choose to take her home. Life sure changes and we are left with thoughts.
CHRISTMAS THOUGHTS ~
Thank you God for your son Jesus and his example to us. I believe in miracles and I know that many have happen for my family. I can sit this morning and give thanks for the Husbands life after a fall of over 40 feet in 1985. My son Chad had a muscle disease and was told he had about 3 days to live. God gave him a miracle. My daughter fell at the age of 2 and cut his head bad. After many stitches and a great specialist, you can't really see the scar. As for me, I survived a heart attack this year and I know God gave me a miracle. My daughter and her family made it safe from the Napa fires but lost their home. Their house is being rebuild and almost done after 2 years. Baby Averie was born and her life is a miracle too. When Ashley was having my first born granddaughter (Brookley), they both almost died during the child birth. Ashley got very sick, but God healed her body after the birth. All are miracles of life. That's just a few things I can share this day of blessings.
God is good all the time and all the time, God is good!
My prayers continue for you your family and friends. Be sure to count blessings of your life! God has done amazing things I am sure of that. Merry Christmas and thank you for reading this. I hope you will share it with others too.
