A short story about the importance of today!
It was about 3 years ago, I took my granddaughter (Willow) to see my mom (Alice) in the care home. She made friend's quickly with Nicole who handled the front desk. Willow is celebrating her 5th birthday today. My mom rest in Heaven and Willow doesn't remember her great grandmother (Alice). I see how quickly time goes by. I showed Willow a picture yesterday and she began to smile. She asked me if she could call her. I began to tell Willow that my mom was very sick and went to Heaven. I love how little minds work and it sounds so easy. Willow said, "Nana's dog went to Heaven and my grandma Alice can take care of him". So cute and I said, "Yes she can".
Deuteronomy 4:9 New International Version (NIV)
Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.
CAN I TELL YOU ABOUT IT ~
Life moves quickly by and I see the importance of one life, one voice and one decision.
Ephesians 2:10 New Living Translation (NLT)
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago
Willow is God's masterpiece. The young guy in the picture above is Chad (my son and Willow's dad). I did my best in teaching him the ways of God, the value of one life and the living experience of Jesus. This was a kids event at our church and we were gathering pennies. The kids were laughing and I know that God changed lives during this event. Willow wasn't born yet, but God knew down the road that Willow would be here. The plan for her life is huge. I believe Ephesians 2:10 and being God's masterpiece. There are no two lives alike and each have their own souls.
God wants the best for each of us. I know this in many ways and I know that I wanted to give my kids the best I could. I want to give my grandkids even more because I see how quickly time moves by. The best gift you can really give is seeing yourself the way God does. Time spent with those you love and care about. Yesterday, we took some time in getting some birthday plates, napkins and cups for Willow. Her little heart was happy to be celebrating her birthday.
Each year we add another candle to our number. Willow as excited to pick out the number 5 to put on her cake. I believe this example shows us how God feels about us. He created us long along and knows the plan he has for us. Jeremiah 29:11 A pan, A promise and A future! God knows best for each of our lives. No matter how old you are today, he knew you would be here.
My family, friends and I were in Cabo in 2004. We got caught in a rip-tide and I didn't know how to swim. I remember it so clearly because that day changed my life. God spared our lives and I remember Chad talking about Jeremiah 29:11. God's plan for our lives wasn't done and we didn't know what was ahead, but we were all thankful that God kept us alive. We might not understand the depth of one day is our lives, we can hold onto God's promises. He is faithful and I came back a different person. I began to teach at our church and rise up to be who God called me to be that day. Scared to be in front of people, but I did it. Now 12 years later, here I am still teaching, leading and learning the importance of one day.
I have learned to trust God in all situations of life and do my best each day. As you face this new day, face it with hope and encouragement. Today is giving by God and he wants you to celebrate who God has brought you from in life. He turns things around for our good and I can see that today.
I know that life is short and we never know what someone is really going through in life. I learned a lot from my neighbor the other day. I started seeing things different as she spoke. I'm thankful for people who share their views of life. It helps me to think is a larger picture. I value the time I have with others as well. I take nothing for granted and I give thanks for this new day. A day to celebrate my granddaughter's life, but also a day to celebrate all that God has done. He is amazing and I trust him with all my heart.
My prayers are with you, your family and friends. I believe in miracles and hold onto God for even greater things in life. Never stop praying or believing big. After all, someone watches your life and your example is important.
Happy Birthday Willow and I love you!
