Matthew 7:24-27 New International Version (NIV)
The Wise and Foolish Builders
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
BUILD YOUR HOUSE ~
UPON THE ROCK
There are so many stories within the Bible of instructions on how to do things. The story of the rock and the sand is a great example of building on solid ground. It is time to build our days on the courage God has given us to press forward. Many people go through hard things in life and never get over it. As I grow older, I find that we don't get over somethings and we must learn to live a new normal. I was thinking back over time and I'm just not the person I was in my younger years. Each situation that was hard has given me an opportunity to become a better person or bitter. There was times in younger years that I became bitter. It took some time for me to process the changes in my life, but there was always something deep down that made me think over things again. Time would change life and God would change me. The process still continues in each of our lives today. The process that God takes us from ugly places of life and restores to set our feet on solid ground.
THE ROCK ~
Just like the story of the rock and the sand. The wind plus the rain came to destroy the house build on the sand and it did. The wind plus the rain came to destroy the house build upon the solid rock, but it couldn't destroy it. The rock being Christ Jesus and the sand had nothing to build upon. Our lives can so relate to this story. When we turn to Jesus, he is there. The process of change in our lives happens to each of us. Our thought pattern becomes better in life or bitter. It's time to choose better in all areas of our lives.
God gives us free will and choices in this day that he has created. Last night the rains came hard at my home. I listen to wind make noise and the rain hit hard against my windows. It reminded in our how safe I was inside my house. Safe from the rain, the wind and the cold. I was sitting within a warm home, lights, heat, and the comfort of not being wet. I took some time to look within myself. I have given my life to God and still have situations that try to turn me away from right thinking. Life can come windy with thoughts and life can become calm with thoughts. I choose to rest upon the will of God for my life and try daily to become a better person. It's never over until it's over, so my today matters so much to me. I will live the best life I can and share the love of God to others.
As your day begins, my prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
