The word friend in the Bible, talks about Jesus being a friend closer than a brother. A friend is someone you get to know over time. The more time we spend with someone, the more we get to know their true character. God connects our lives for purpose and it's important to share time with others. We were never created to live alone, but to spur one another on in life.
PROVERBS 18:24 (NIV)
One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
FRIEND ~
Friendship is a gift from God.
Psalms 1–6 (NIV)
1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither--
whatever they do prospers.
4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,

Jesus is your friend who you can trust.
I look back on my life and I've had many friends who helped me in due seasons of life. I believe I helped them too. I believe there are season friends and life time friends. I am sitting here this morning with my door open, hearing birds sing and thinking over different friends. Friends who have died, friends who moved away and friends who want time, but we are in this pandemic time of life. You can't meet, you can't go to church, you can't go to school and wear your mask, gloves plus social distance. It's hard for me because I love people and connecting.
I have a few friends I met in grade school and I still am in contact with today. June, Juanita, Cheryl and Pam have impacted my life more than I can say. I have great memories and I know they are each only a call away. I have new friends and I miss connecting with them. I have friends who have moved away and still communication happen. I consider my family like friends too. Each of them call, show me they care and here for me. My husband and I met in 1973 after my dad died. This month on August 13th, will be 43 years of marriage. Communication is the key to any friendship. Being real and letting others be who they are and you be who you are.
My prayers continue today for you, your family and friends. Keep that communication going even through social distancing. We need each other in life.
