Isaiah 61:1-3 New International Version (NIV)
The Year of the Lord’s Favor
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion--
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.
Beauty for ashes
God gives us joy and a garment of praise. This is the year of the Lord's favor upon your life, receive that word from God. Go ahead and trust him, plus look around you. We often miss the blessings of a new day. We can take health for granted, our jobs and doing normal things. Sometimes our normal change and we need the Lord's help to process change. I felt lead to share this scripture today because God truly does give us beauty for ashes. Ashes can be anything that comes from something that changes.
Display the Lord's favor
I have been in places that I told God I don't understand and I don't get it. He reminds me of this chapter and God will bring beauty from the things that make us crazy at times. Crazy in thinking wrong or hard to hold on when it happens. I have found God faithful in my life and my family. I can recall broken moments and tears when words won't come. God remains the same and the outcome is far greater than I could ever imagine. Lessons learned and changing me on the inside.
The spirit of the Lord is real. Look around you today and see the beauty in flowers, green hills, and blue skies. Beauty in health, friendships and the mirror you look into. God made us beautiful inside and if we could only see that. A new day brings beauty, peace, hope and never forget the joy of the Lord is your strength. Listen to worship music and let the music fill your soul this day.
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
