The 4th of July weekend does bring memories and new beginnings. My first thoughts go back to my dad being the hospital from a heart attack. It was July 4th and I wanted to go with my friends, but my mom wanted me at the hospital with my dad. He was recovering and soon to come home. Little did I know that July 4,1973 would be his last one on earth and I chose to go with my friends. He would come home on July 5 or 6th and died Saturday morning July 7, 1973 in our bathroom. Our lives would change forever and July 4th weekend is a reminder of this time of my life for me.
My mom and brother now live in Heaven and I don't have any other siblings. I am married with two kid/adults and now have grandkids. As I celebrate this weekend with my family at the Lake House, I will have many new experiences but the old one of July 4, 1973 will be in the front of my mind. Then I turn it to my now and count new blessings. We do have thought so of yesterdays and we can struggle through nows, but God's plan leads us to a new day. I keep Jeremiah 29:11 in my mind and you should too.

I also believe we should guard our hearts. Seeing pictures of someone else's happiness, can make us see what we don't have in life. We should just be happy for those who are happy. Living in America, we have many opportunities to change our lives. If you aren't happy, you can change it. We can get better jobs and prosper. Freedom to speak kind words and freedom to live for God. Our choices not only affect us, but others. Purpose this 4th of July weekend, a good one!
