Matthew 11: 28-30
Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.
MEMORIAL DAY ~
My mom was living in an assistant living place in Napa. She met a man named Irwin and both were in their 80's. They called each other they boyfriend and girlfriend. I had some good talks with him about days with titles. He told me that it brought back memories of war. He had tears in his eyes and pain. He began to tell me about somethings he saw and how ugly war was to him. He would never forget stepping over bodies and the feelings that went through his mind. Then said, "let's not talk about it anymore, I hate days like today".
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
MEMORIAL DAY ~
I began to pray for Irwin and all others who had hard memories on this day. It wasn't just about this day but everyday of life. He couldn't forget the things he did and yet in his old age, he couldn't get into the veteran home in Napa. It made me sad that he didn't get treated with honors in old age and yet in this assistant living place, he met my mom. I saw joy on both of their faces in there 80's. My mom had not had a boyfriend since my dad died in her 40's. God brought them together to share their end days of life.
Let us remember to pray for others today and everyday that deal with hard memories of life. I also know other family members who cry today over loved one's gone. A day to HONOR men and men who served our country.
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
