One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
I was in high school when a teacher spoke on what being a friend was and she compared it to what an acquaintance was in life. She said if you have one real friend in life, you will be lucky. The kids in the class said, "NO WAY". In high school you feel as if you have many friends. I was in 12th grade and I disagreed with her too. However, school ended and many of my friends I would never see again. There were no cell phones in 1973. I would loose contact with many of who I called friends. However, I am still in contact with two friends. One friend is Juanita and one friend is Cheryl. We actually got together a few years back and had lunch. We live in different places and one in a different state. We aren't connected like in school, but just knowing they still care about my life matters. Plus, I care about their live too. We continue to share moments of life.
As I grew up, I began to truly see what the teacher was talking about in life. We do have different types of friendship and acquaintances. I have found a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Just like the Bible says. I do have real friends in life and I can count on them, plus they can count on me too. God is faithful and I can tell you stories of his faithfulness. He never leaves but it was I who left him. Life got crazy and I took my eyes off of God. I don't know how people live without staying close to God. I felt a tugging on my heart to come back to God. It was then, I saw the importance of staying shelter under God and rest in the shadow of him.
Psalm 91:1-2
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
FRIENDS ~
We need someone to talk to in life. We were created to connect and form communities. We are living in a shelter in place time of life. A virus of 2020 has hit not only own city, but our State, Country and World. Scientist are trying to find a vaccine. So many people are sick and it's important to stay away from the virus. Many disagree with shelter in place and many agree. A split conversation can happen and wonder can set in. People are stressed, worried, concern and ready for this shelter in place to be over. I find that we are living in a new normal and masks are going to be worn for a long time.
I was talking to a friend who I told that I trust the process. It's not that I agree with the Government on every decision, but I trust God. I believe that God is working things out for the best. However, just like Joseph in the Bible, it took years for him to see his blessings and live in freedom of God. I am not sure the depth of stories, but I am sure that God continues to be a miracle worker. I do believe Jesus is a friend and I think of all the things he went through. Trusting God is a made up mind to reset at times. Romans 12:1-2 speaks of it.
Romans 12:1-2 New International Version (NIV)
A Living Sacrifice
12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
LETS PRAY:
God, we don't always understand the whys of things. I have seen so much in life an seen your miracle working power. I think it would be great for this virus to disappear. Our doctors, nurses and hospital staff are tired. I have many doctors and nurses who are my friends. I get text messages and they are tired and want prayer. Prayer changes situations and we continue to count on you God. Help those tired and weary in doing well. Help us who stay at home and feel anxious. Help those who are sick to become well. Change our world again to health please. We also want to thank you for a new day and connecting our lives over this blog. I pray for the readers of my blog their family and friends daily to you God. I believe big and each of us needs your power to change things this day. AMEN
Thank you for reading this, joining me in prayer and trusting the Lord. Purpose this a good Saturday and take a walk if you can today.
