I had the privilege of helping at my church for kids ministry event called, "INSIDE OUT". A vacation Bible school (VBS) for a few days. I was on the front row of the church and two kids in kindergarten came in saying, "MS SPARKIE". There was excitement in their voices and a big smile upon their faces.
They were ready to see the characters of the movie INSIDE OUT and have fun. We have the best Children's Pastor named Stacy Marks. She loves from the middle of her heart and kids just love her as well as their parents or who brings them to church.
I remember taking my kids to special children events at church. My friends Darlene and Lorie, would lead kids camp and Mindy Lou (A puppet) would remain in my heart forever. I spent time with them at kids camps and grew to know many kids. I still keep in contact with a few and they are now grown. One of them send me a picture recently of us at camp. It brought back many memories, but mostly the time I spent with them mattered. I was reminded of good times and learning of how Jesus loves us.
I did not grow up in church or know anything about a kids service. There was one little boy who asked if Jesus really was on a stick. Someone had told him the story of this and Stacy began to explain. Kids have questions too and we all need to become examples to all ages. We continue to learn as we grow.
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Throughout our lives, we will learn, grow and make our own decisions. We can train a child to listen and know who to turn to on a daily bases. It is now time for kids to go back to school. A new season ahead for teachers and leaders too. A room of strangers and hoping to know someone in their class. We need to pray for our teachers and leaders who begin in a room of new faces. We never know what one life goes through in one day. Kids come from hurting homes and also peaceful homes. So much a child can learn by one example before them.
YOUR EXAMPLE ~
Maybe your are not starting school or have kids who are. Maybe you are facing something new and just need prayers. Often times we don't share our deepest secrets or painful moments of life. Through it all, we can learn to trust in God and he is always there. Let us remember that God has NOT given us the spirit of fear. It becomes time to throw away negative thoughts and grab onto positive ones. Telling yourself over and over, "I CAN DO THIS".
Many people never grow up and church isn't a weekly thing. Many people never know the real power behind the name of Jesus or what he continues to do for lives. Christians are given a bad name because of people who truly don't follow the Lord but take on the title. Even I find myself taking a deep breath and remembering all Jesus did in the past and the present. Things are hard at times and it becomes a season of change. Change isn't always easy or good but it happens to each of us. Today, let us remember we are important and our example matters. Not just to a little kid, but to adults as well.
No matter what your age, our minds are still in training of God's word and plan!
Jeremiah 29:11 A plan, A promise and A future
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
