Last night about ten o'clock, we received a knock at the door. It was a police officer asking if we heard gun shots earlier. The answer was yes. Two men got into a fight and one had a gun. It was just around the corner from us and it made me think upon how God protected us. I also saw how crazy it was for me to open the door to see what was happening right after hearing the gun shots.
A KNOCK AT THE DOOR ~
Brings news we unexpected at times and also things we do expect. Someone is at the door. The Bible says:
1 Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.
2 In vain you rise early
and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat--
for he grants sleep to those he loves.
3 Children are a heritage from the Lord,
offspring a reward from him.
4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
5 Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court.
BIBLE DAYS ~ were stories of violence and peace. Stories of pressing forward and seeing just how hard life could be. There were bad people and good people. Living in the year 2015, I can look back an see life as a child and the violence that began in my school. I was in middle school when riots would begin in Richmond California and I didn't quite understanding it all. I understand more today than ever. My heart's desire is for everyone to get along, but I see how even in the Bible does it was hard.
Our choices affects others and that makes a difference. Living in a land of peace is not happening in our world. The enemy goes about trying to destroy lives and we must see that. But our own choices matter too. Every morning I wake up and thank God for another day. I start counting blessings and know that I can make a difference today. I used to live in anger and not anymore. I decided to live in the land of living and in freedom of mind. My own choices Romans 12:1-2 speaks of renewing our minds. It becomes time to make the best of everything and also protect ourselves. That means protect our hearts, minds and even our own actions. Think before we react and do our best daily.
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends! Be careful in choices your make this day. Watch out for others who tend to be angry and want to harm others. Just like last night, there was nothing I could do about the gun shots and no reason for me to open that door. I see that clearly now and I think before I react if there is a next time. People are not always kind and anger sure does destroy. Go today in peace and watch out for you.
