Exodus 20:1-6 New International Version
The Ten Commandments
And God spoke all these words:
2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
3 “You shall have no other gods before me.
4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
Verse 6, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments. Your example matters not only now, but generations to come. I can think back upon people who have left earth for heaven. I remember their examples to my life and the positive attitude of some. Even after my mom died in the care home, I heard from some of the workers there after she passed. She was a woman of faith and quoted scriptures from the Bible. I was shocked, because that wasn't the woman I saw there. Yet, the evening before she passed, her and I had the most amazing conversation. A conversation I waited most of my life to hear from you. That I was a good daughter and she thanked me for all I did for her. I thought she just had a bad cold, I didn't realize she was passing away. It was a sudden 4am phone call and my family and I rushed over to see her. She couldn't talk anymore and the nigh before would be the last conversation we had in life. Her example on many positive things, remain in my mind and I learned so much for that one year experience with her.
GENERATIONS TO COME ~
It's not only our family, but our friends and people who watch out lives.
I also volunteer at the Elementary School and kids who I helped in Kindergarten are now in middle school. Some remember me and that makes me happy. I was the one who got to do fun projects and show kindness to them. I remember a grandma walking a kid to school and standing by the door with her when I was a kid. I always wished I had that grandma in my life, but I didn't. So I became that grandma that could help in my grandkids classrooms and stand by a door. Not only for them, but many others kids.
Last night, I heard that a friend (Carol) passed away from a heart attack. My heart was sadden as her daughter (Crystal) told me. I would ask that you pray for her daughter and family. It's hard when a loved one leaves earth for heaven. Crystal said she wanted me to know and remembers me as her Sunday school teacher. I haven't seen them in years but it shows how our example matters.
I also like volunteering in kids ministry at my church. Everything is on hold right now because of the pandemic of 2020, but one day, we can volunteer and share our lives with others again. We can make a difference in our community of school, church, home, work and the list goes on. I also co-lead a class with Gloria on zoom for women and part of our women's ministry team. Don't forget this, "you make a difference".
My prayers continue for the readers of my blog, your family and friends. Let us purpose this new day to be one of joy in our souls and connect with someone today.
